D9Firearms – SOT (Class III) Registration

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

With the new law allowing NFA weapons (suppressors, short barreled shotguns, and pre-ban machine guns) being passed in Kansas and becoming law on July 1, 2008, D9Firearms is submitting paperwork to acquire our SOT license.  I can tell you it didn’t take long to start receiving emails asking when we would be getting our license so they can get a suppressor.

Over the last year we have been looking into getting this license but due to our now debased democrat attorney general and miss guided governor we couldn’t even sell to our own local law enforcement.  (Sounds a lot like California.)  So now is the time and I’m sure several others will as well.

However, as with every good thing government must feel they have to tax it.  In the coming months I will be preparing an outline on the transfer and/or purchase process for NFA items, for individuals in Kansas wanting to acquire these items.  My guess is it will take us about two months to get our license which will be about the time the law becomes effective.

Generally, as with all price controlled items, (just like Marxism or democrat policies), you can expect to pay several thousand dollars to acquire the most basic machine gun.  As an individual, you will not be allowed to legally own a machine gun manufactured after 1986; however as a licensed dealer D9 will be allowed to legally own modern manufactured machine guns which can only be sold to law enforcement or other class III dealers.

Based on the emails I have received already, I suspect most Kansan’s will want to own a suppressor.  Some of my non-gun owning acquaintances asked what do you need that for.  My question is, why do you need a 72” TV, why do you need anything you own for personal enjoyment.  However, I can also support it simply because it would be nice when hunting, not requiring hearing protection and not giving away your position on a coyote shot.

Regardless watch for more information on new items we will be able to provide.  We will also start researching suppressor companies and opening up accounts and placing orders as soon as our license arrives.

Thanks again and we will be looking to make the shooting world a quieter place.

D9Firearms Recent & Upcoming Projects

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

We just finished off a couple of more DPM RL-308 rifles and even upgraded one we sold to a good client and friend down in Texas.  Currently we are looking toward varmint season and have been getting in some new rifles and ordering more DPMS as well.

A recent purchase was the Remington 700 VTR in 22-250.  It’s a great cross between bench a shooter and offers a great balance for free hand shooting.

We also just tested and then mounted a couple of Horus Vision 2-12×50 Hawk optics.  I won’t spoil the review we are working on, but it is an optic we now personally own and use and will be recommending in the future.

AR 243 with IOR.JPG

This is the DPMS LR-243 we set up several months ago for a Texan fixated on delivering 110grn pin point accuracy to a bunch of belligerent feral hogs.  He called us up and after seeing one of our IOR’s he decided to go with it.  We also added the compensator as well.  This is another subMOA smoker and Luke is one happy guy.

As always we try and keep a variety of items and have some excellent carry conceal pistols available as well.

We are also in the process of winding down our winter shop renovation project and plan to have it completed in the coming weeks.  With the burst of customized DPMS rifles we are building, along with the reloading, pistol upgrades, and optics we designed a workstation for each of our main practices.  I’ll have a write up on our new layout and plans of our summer projects, which include new load developments for the 260, 243, & 223 as well as the rollout of the D9Firearms – DPMS – White Oak Armament AR-10 rifle.

Thanks again

Topeka Gun Show - We Didn’t Make it

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

We sincerely apologize to everyone who was expecting to see D9Firearms out at the US Weapons Collectors Gun Show last weekend in Topeka.  However, for some of our existing clients they will appreciate it since we were able to get close to being caught up on orders.  Additionally we’ve been in the middle of a shop remodel/upgrade that we were working on and will be posting an update very shortly on the renovations.

Currently, we have been receiving more requests for the D9Firearms customized DPMS LR-308B rifles and we’re sorry to say that we are out.  The best laid plans of keeping a revolving stock on hand did not go as planned due to the tremendous back log at DPMS and excellent sales here at D9 (which is part of what we were working on last weekend).  However, D9Firearms waits for no one and has been offering a variety of DPMS & CMMG .223 uppers with a D9Firearms customized DPMS lower as well as other DPMS LR rifles.

Here are a couple of builds we completed this weekend and will be finishing up a couple more this week.

Shown above is our first export.  This rifle is going to our friends down under in New Zealand.  This rifle we purchased the DPMS 24″ SST fluted .223 upper from our friends at CMMG and added one of D9Firearms customized AR-15 lower.

100_2671.jpg

Shown above is a DPMS LR-308AP4 (upper was provided by our client since we were out at the time and we customized a stripped LR-308 lower.)  We replaced the A2 post gas block with a Koelbl, added a tac latch and combined it with a customized lower with an ACE SOCOM AP4 stock, Rock River National Match 2 stage trigger, & Hogue grip.  Also shown with D9’s personal HK UPS Expert, makes shooting look easy.

Shown above is a DPMS LR-308B where we added the extended 4 rail, Magpul SRS, RR National Match 2 stage, tac latch.  Rifle shown with D9’s personal IOR Valdada 2-12×32 illuminated.

We are doing a Glock custom upgrade on three Model 30s where we are adding 3.5lb disconnector, 6lb trigger spring, 4lb hammer spring, tac slide release, tac extended slide take down, and sand paper grips.  We may add sights later.

D9Firearms will be at the Topeka, KS – US Weapons Collectors Gun Show – April 12th & 13th

100_2652.jpg

D9Firearms is teaming up again with the gun-lawyer (email code name, and no, he’s not one of those we toss to the bottom of the ocean for a good start) to set up a couple of tables at the Topeka gun show coming up in a few weeks. Based on the organizer, they are estimating approximately 250 tables that will be filled, so it will be substantially larger than the one we’ve attended here in Overland Park.

We are planning to have some of our D9Firearms custom DPMS rifles along with a variety of others. We recently picked up a few new pistols that are geared for carry conceal and with the summer coming on conceal ability will be an issue. Although several people have a carry pistol for the vehicle carrying one on your body does require a lot of thought, practice, and a concealable pistol.

100_2644.jpg

Not very good for concealing but excellent for delivering a meteor size piece of XTP hollow point at some drive by shooting gangbanger. Ruger 44mag.

We choose a few that we feel meet that criteria. Our favorite carry pistol is the Kahr, which is a single stack, very slim, compact and light. We picked up a couple of pistols we generally don’t carry, but we’ve had several request and transferred several of them which are the Taurus 247 & Kel-Tek PF-9. Another stalwart and excellent all round pocket gun is the Taurus 651 shrouded hammer revolver in .357. We’re also bringing the HK LEM, which received lots of attention at the last show. We tossed in a Para 40.16 Limited SS 1911 style range gun as well.

100_2655.jpg

We will also be bringing a variety of ammo since a gun without bullets is like a pencil without lead.

We are not big shotgunners here at D9Firearms but we’ve made a couple of trades and purchases of some we thought would be nice this time of year with turkey season and just for shooting some clays. We will have a Benelli Nova in 12 gauge and two Berretta 390’s, one in 20 the other in 12. These are very lightly used guns and look and operate like they are NIB.

100_2669.jpg

For the AR rifles we will have some LR-308s, 260’s, and 243 to cover any varmint hunting this spring. We have an awesome LR-308 24” SST w/fluted barrel/Miculek compensator, and A3 upper receiver (dust cover & forward assist). We also managed to stock up on DPMS AR-15 stripped lowers and have managed to get a couple of different uppers to go with them. But not to worry our CMMG friends will be at the show to fix you up with a host of uppers ranging from DPMS to their line of products.

100_2639.jpg

Don’t let your next drive by shooter get away. Send him a 168grn telegram.

If your interested in a new firearm please contact or come on out to the show and check out a few items. If you’re interested in a DPMS rifle all’s we can say is we have at least 40 rifles on order in a variety of calibers and configurations and would be glad to sign one up for you.

Thanks and we look forward to seeing everyone.
