Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (Shoot for the Cure)
On August 25th the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Overland Park, Kansas will be holding its annual clay pigeon shoot out fund raiser. We’ve been involved in a couple of great fund raisers for local charities but I can say this is the best. Of course why wouldn’t it be when you combine a full day of shooting at the Saddle and Sirloin Club and then enjoy some adult beverages, prime rib dinner, entertainment, and the most important of all a live auction to raise funds to assist in many ways the people with cystic fibrosis.
My wife and I participated last year by donating a Charles Daly Model 106 Over/Under for the silent auction and it drew a fantastic response raising $475 for the foundation. This year they are planning to top last year by having a live auction and adding more auction items (hunting trips, dinners, wine, etc.), more prizes for the top shooters, a Friday evening event, and more shooting. I can say last year we had a fantastic time, enjoyed some adult beverages, an excellent meal, and watching a local big league pro golfer (Tom W.) bid and win an beautifully gold in-lay hand engraved Berretta shotgun donated by Cabela’s. This year they are planning to have a local chef, who is well known for his talents in preparing wild game dinners, to prepare Saturday evenings prime rib dinner.

This year my wife and I had planned to donate another firearm for the auction from D9Firearms inventory. However, they were looking for some additional items to give away as the top prize. So we decided to offer something different since the shooters will all be operating with premium shotguns we decided to go with a Remington Model 5 22LR. It’s a classis bolt action with walnut stock and open sites. This rifle has been a great seller and we have received feedback that at 25yds open sites it shoots on a dime.

Well as good fortune would have it and this is such a great event D9Firearms decided to donate 2 rifles. (The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation can thank the United Way for declining a firearm for a raffle held at my office.) So this year the top shooters of the youth and women’s will be awarded a Remington Model 5 or a Savage 17HMR.

Once again, we have been very blessed by none other than God and fortunate to be able too help others in this fashion. Although we know several of our clients are not local we hope to see some of D9’s friends there.
Sincerely,
Mari & Darrel.
